All grants are funded by the Build-A-Bear Foundation whose mission is to add a little more to life by inspiring kids to be Helpful, Empowered, Accepting, Respectful, and Team players.
Build-A-Bear Foundation issues grants to qualifying non-profits with programs that embody the values of H.E.A.R.T.:
- H – Help your community
- E – Empower yourself and others
- A - Accept what makes you and others unique
- R – Respect animals and the world around you
- T – Team up to do more
All grant requests must be submitted online between January 1 and March 31 here.
No applications will be accepted before or after this timeframe, but invite you to apply during our grant request period the following year. We are unable to accept any grant requests via email, phone call or letter.
Due to the large volume of requests we receive, grants will be issued in July/August each calendar year, to allow time for appropriate review and vetting. Issued grants will be not more than $50,000 and not less than $5,000.
In an effort to help as many as possible, if an organization receives a grant, they are not eligible to receive another grant for one calendar year.
Requirements for All Grants
- Tax-exempt status
Recipient organization must be a tax-exempt, non-profit organization as defined by IRS Code 501(c)(3) or a registered charity in Canada and the United Kingdom.
- Proximity to BABW Store
Recipient organization must serve an area within 50 miles of a Build-A-Bear Workshop store.
Funds must directly support programs that promote the values of H.E.A.R.T.
Organizations may apply every year until a grant is issued. Once issued, organization must wait one calendar year to apply for additional funding.
