Nikki's Toolkit - Kids Make a Beary Big Difference

Build-A-Bear Workshop7reg; and the Build-A-Bear Workshop Foundation are proud to support kids in their efforts to raise money for important causes.

Nikki was a special teen who loved teddy bears and she especially loved giving them away to others in need of a hug. Before she died of cancer Nikki wanted to do what she could to raise awareness about her disease in hopes of finding a cure. She inspired us to create this Toolkit so other kids can make a difference in their communities.

Nikki's Toolkit has just what you and your friends need to get started with your fundraising project!

Step 1 Start by choosing a project.

Choose a fundraising project you feel comfortable organizing and that you feel will be successful. Here are a few project ideas to get you thinking:

Set some goals. For example, your goal might be to help children with cancer and their families by raising funds for the Build-A-Bear Workshop Foundation. Or you might want to raise money for a child in your community that is struggling with a serious illness. Write down how much money you want to raise to help these kids.

Step 2 Plan your project

Choose a date.

What day(s) will you do the fundraising? Make sure you check your school and home calendars for conflicts.

Who will be involved?

List who will help with the project and help you plan and organize the event.

Create a to-do list.

Make a list of what needs to be done and who will take care of each item. Break down big jobs into smaller tasks.

Create a project time line.

For each of the tasks on your to-do list, decide what the due dates are to make sure the project happens on time.

Step 3 Do your project

Have fun with this part and let all of your great planning pay off! Give the money to the organization (or ask your parent to write a check) and pat yourself on the back for doing a pawsome job!

Step 4 Follow up with everyone

Thank all of your helpers by sending cards or emails notes.

Tell us about your event ? we would love to hear about your special fundraising projects and see pictures from your event!
