Build-A-Bear Foundation's mission is to add a little more heart to life by sharing hugs, inspiring creativity and supporting those in need. We partner with many organizations to share books, bears and amazing experiences across the globe.
Hearts 'n' Hugs Fund
Build-A-Bear Foundation knows a hug is understood in any language. Through the Hearts ‘n’ Hugs Fund, we share the power of teddy bears with kids most in need of a hug.
Literacy Program
Our core focus is to promote childhood literacy by providing access to books and amazing reading experiences. With best-in-class partners, we’re empowering the next generation by sharing diverse titles and amazing reading experiences where they’re needed most.

When Krystin was in the hospital, she felt isolated. Being diagnosed with leukemia changed her life. When Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington told her she would be granted a wish, she wanted kids in the hospital to feel less alone. Krystin’s wish came true when the cancer units at Seattle Children's were transformed into Build-A-Bear Workshops for a day! Stuffing machines, adorable outfits, and special furry friends were set up so patients could create a one-of-a-kind friend just for them.
We’re proud to partner with Shriners Children’s to provide custom furry friends when patients visit for specialized treatment and procedures. Build-A-Bear Foundation Buddy Rooms can be found at 18 Shriners Children’s locations across the United States. Our bear-making experience – convenient onsite and free to families - ensures patients have a comfort item and a special moment to look forward to during their healing journey.
