Hugs 'N Hope

At Build-A-Bear, our mission is to add a little more “heart” to life by sharing hugs and making days a little brighter for those in need. To that end, we have developed a unique Build-A-Party® option – the Hugs N’ Hope party - to support the Changing the Way We Care initiative developed by Catholic Relief Services, Lumos and Maestral International. Changing the Way We Care supports children living in orphanages and seeks to help keep children in families around the world, which we feel is a great fit for our mission. We are excited to partner with them to test launch this innovative new model that will give much needed teddy bear hugs to kids who need them most.

Party Details:
Only $30 and includes:

1 Hugs N’ Hope Bear
Special Hugs N’ Hope themed Heart Ceremony
$5 donation to the Changing the Way We CareSM Initiative (note: $3 donation in Canada)
Parties must be booked 3 weeks to allow for delivery of bears to the Workshops

Q&A

How do the parties work?

Guests who wish to support the Changing the Way We Care initiative and send a teddy bear hug to a child in need can host a Hugs N’ Hope party at a local Build-A-Bear Workshop store. For $30 per person, Guests can make a special Hugs N’ Hope bear that will be sent to a child in need and a $5 donation will be made to the Changing the Way We Care initiative. The Hugs N’ Hope bear is only available at a Hugs N’ Hope party.

How do I sign up my organization to be a beneficiary of this party option?

The particular concept is currently offered in support of the Changing the Way We Care initiative as a pilot program. We hope to roll out a version of the offering so that other non-profit organizations can participate in the future. However, we currently offer discounts on parties for qualified non-profit organizations. If you are interested in our service party discount, please email giving@buildabear.com.

What happens to the bears when they are donated?

All bears made during Hugs N’ Hope parties will be distributed by the Changing the Way We Care initiative to a vulnerable child to provide hugs and comfort.
